NEWSROOM

Alumni profile: Shreya Gejji

Co-Founder | Masakali, Head of Marketing and Relationship Management

Masakali is an organisation with a vision to launch the world’s first ethical Indian fashion e-commerce store. Shreya and her team are constantly reworking their business model to bring them closer to achieving their vision.

Shreya was driven from a young age by a strong curiosity about the world around her. Her curiosity and entrepreneurial mind-set drove her to have a deep interest in understanding the workings of individuals, groups, organisations and communities and to see opportunities everywhere.

Shreya was working at a digital-tech startup in Malaysia when she co-founded start-up Masakali with two her ex-colleagues. Before starting Maskali she had never thought of herself as an entrepreneur.

Maskali is a movement to bring ethical ethnic fashion to the Indian masses though partnership with 10 talented designers from around India. Maskali supports Aangan, with a portion of every sale going towards keeping some of India’s most vulnerable children safe.

Shreya’s Arts degree gave her the ability to think critically and question everything, and these skills have honed and developed her entrepreneurial spirit. The research skills and independence she gained from her Master of Arts gave her the confidence to walk out into the world and launch something on her own.

Shreya Gejji graduated from the University of Auckland with a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts.
