Anzel Singh – Summer Lab 2019

A little about me:

Hey, my name is Anzel and I’m part of the VR (Virtual Reality) Social Interaction team with Weilian and Sarah working on helping people with Autism practice non-verbal communication and interaction.

I joined Summer Lab because I initially had an idea that involved using VR to help people find their dream career and I wanted to know everything I could about Entrepreneurship to make it a reality.
I felt like I had so many ideas I wanted to work on, but no idea where to start.

My background as a current undergrad studying Science involved exploration in terms of research, but like many other majors, gave us little to no real insight in terms of being an entrepreneur.
I didn’t want to miss out on understanding the basics of start-ups and hoped to see a snapshot of modern entrepreneurship culture. Working on a project seemed like the absolute best way to learn and the Summer Lab programme looked to take the practical approach.

I guess, what I’m hoping to get out of this is a new sense of confidence in myself as an Entrepreneur.
Gain some insight into negotiating, financing, marketing, risk analysis and everything else a professional should be aware of. I want to know what mistakes I can avoid early on and how to strategize business plans as well as pivot from existing ideas. Networking with all the other amazing Summer Labbers and Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship community is definitely another reason why I joined. An opportunity to get a Mentor and learn from those who’ve done the hard yards in addition to being exposed to their networks and grow my own was too good to pass on and was ultimately invaluable.
