Re-O Week 2021 at the Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship

To all aspiring change-makers, problem-solvers, and creative thinkers – welcome back on campus! Whether you’re a long-standing member of the CIE community or someone who has been meaning to check us out, visit us to discuss how you can unleash your potential this semester. Our wide range of FREE programmes and events are designed for students and staff of all faculties at the University of Auckland, regardless of what you’re studying.
This Re-O Week, we have an exciting programme of activities taking place at Unleash Space including our Birthday Party (featuring free cakes, games, and giveaways), virtual reality experience, and mini-model painting station! Check out our full programme below.
Unleash Space Birthday Party
Monday 19 July
12-3pm (Cake cutting at 12pm)
Join us in celebrating four wonderful years of Unleash Space with free games, giveaways, cakes, and more! Unleash Space is the University of Auckland’s state of the art innovation hub and maker space. It is a place where anybody can create what they imagine, design for today, and prototype for tomorrow. Take a tour of the space, meet like minded people over free cakes, and participate in party games with multiple prizes up for grabs! Please register for cake planning purposes.

3D printed miniature model painting
Monday 19, Tuesday 20, Thursday 22, and Friday 23 July
10am-3pm
Paint a miniature 3D character with acrylic paint and powder-bed printed 3D models. Bring your friends along to this fun, easy entry activity to get your creative juices flowing. All models and materials provided.
Spin the wheel to win fun prizes!
Monday 19, Tuesday 20, Thursday 22, and Friday 23 July
10am-3pm
Drop in and spin the wheel for the chance to win fun prizes including tote bags, t-shirts, notebooks, eco-friendly cutlery sets, stickers and more! Have all your questions about the Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship answered by a friendly member of the team and snack on some free food and drinks.
Live student project showcase
Monday 19, Tuesday 20, Thursday 22, and Friday 23 July
10am-3pm
Grab some free food and drinks, and check out some of the exciting projects that fellow students have worked on in the Unleash Space maker space. The maker space is free for all University of Auckland students and staff to use, and is home to equipment like 3D printers, a laser cutter, CNC router, electronics station, sewing machines, a vacuum former, and more.
Virtual reality experience

Experience virtual reality for free at the Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship’s very own VR station.
Experiment with Makey Makey instruments

Discover how you can unleash your inner musician with just a bit of fruit and our Makey Makey interactive kit!
Learn everything you need to know about Velocity
Monday 19, Tuesday 20, and Wednesday 21 July
10am-2pm, OGGB
Visit the Velocity stall in OGGB and chat with a friendly member of the Velocity student committee to hear about their exciting plans for this semester. Have all your questions about the Velocity programme answered (including how to make the most of their flagship event, the $100k Challenge). They may even have some free giveaways for you!
Equipment trainings

Once you’ve completed Unleash Space member orientation, the next step to making the most of the maker space is to complete equipment training. You can learn more about the equipment training process here. Once you have completed the preparation module on Canvas, visit Unleash Space to complete your 30 minute in-person practice session.
